Manchester United have ended the rumor regarding former club forward, Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s return to Old Trafford.
The Swede was a product of Jose Mourinho’s lifelong passion to keep signing proven though old footballers while neglecting the youth kept in his care.Luckily for Manchester United, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is the direct opposite.
The Norwegian showed an incredible faith in not looking for a striker to sign over the summer following the departure of Romelu Lukaku to Inter Milan, Ibrahimovic’s former team.
The gaffer instead chose to hand the no. 9 shirt to Anthony Martial.
Although Solksjaer plans to increase the team’s options going forward, signing a 38-year-old is not how he wants to do it.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic had an interesting time at United though, helping them to win the Europa League to take them back to the Champions League and also, the league cup but the current manager in charge of United feels his team should look into the future rather than dwell in the past.
With the Red Devils sitting 10 points outside the Champions League spot, a much better second half of the season is desperately needed and Ole is all out to find a player that can guarantee his side won’t go blunt whenever Martial is not around to start.
The French forward has been excellent this season most notably when he teams up with Rashford but United have been found to possess an incredibly blunt attack whenever the former Monaco man is injured.
The attack is not the only position that needs fortification. The midfield, especially the position occupied by Paul Pogba is under serious threat of not performing when the team needs it most.
If Saturday’s match was any proof, the attacking midfield position is also in need of new recruits.
